Euroimposters impersonate local Web site, sell tickets to Van Gogh exhibit, but probably not the one you're thinking about

Secret Boston, which has been around for more than a decade at secretboston.net, reports some company out of Barcelona is now basically impersonating them at secretboston.com, and is selling tickets to an "immersive" Van Gogh exhibit that is not the one at the SoWa Power Station. For starters, that one doesn't have a location listed.

Makes one want to cut off an ear.

By the way - Mario is great for what he has done to that area based upon what was there 30 years ago, but Harrison Avenue is east of Washington Street.

By the way - want to see great clips of "SoWa" circa 1985 along with street hockey? Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_QakUvlcgM

I knew what the video was gonna be before I looked. Hell yeah

But it may only work for the real Secret Boston if they registered the trademark. Did they?

The idea of it being both secret and trademarked seems like a contradiction.

ICANN frowns on domain squatting that's designed to mislead, so if the Secret Boston people can show that they've been using secretboston.net legitimately and this usage is clearly intended to maliciously piggyback off that, they may be able to just file a claim to have the domain reassigned to them.

I'm so relieved that it was a handful of Euroimposters, rather than a bunch of Mexibros carrying out this ruse.

Very informative, Adam. Thank you.

I did sign up, via a Facebook ad, but only for the "waiting list," which is an odd thing for a scam to have. Or maybe clever, hoping they are not called out, and you buy when you have that sudden "sign up now!" email. I do not think I gave any cc info, but that will be my first line of defense if I am charged.

I did one for the COVID vaccination sign up. I drove my car into a retaining wall.
