You may never need to rent a giant waving neon chicken, but it's good to know you can

Neon Williams, a Somerville company now partly owned by giant-neon-sign collector (and lighthouse owner) Dave Waller, will let you rent the giant chicken that used to wave (if you have a clean mind, that is) in front of Fontaine's in West Roxbury.

Maybe we can plop the neon chicken down in the middle of a crosswalk on Centre St.. You know... to wave to all the cars doing 60 who don’t stop at said crosswalk.

For a while a few years ago it was on the Greenway near the Aquarium along with the neon sign from the European. I used to like seeing them there on my way to work.

Fall of 1990, we had just played a football game at Catholic Memorial and were on the bus on our way home after a tough loss, and one of the guys on the team yells, "Hey Burkie! There's a chicken beating off!" Coach was not pleased, and we rode the rest of the way back to school (60 minutes or so in rush-hour traffic on 128) in silence, and then ran laps before we could shower and get changed.
