Fire hits multiple buildings on Fayston Street in Dorchester; 48 displaced

A fire that spread alongFayston Street off Mascoma Street in Dorchester spread among five closely-packed three deckers shortly before 11:30 a.m.

The fire reached seven alarms, bringing in firefighters from across Boston and neighboring communities, some to cover areas left uncovered as Boston firefighters rushed to the scene.

The fires were declared knocked down around 12:24 p.m.

The Boston Fire Department reports 48 people and "multiple pets" were displaced. Some 150 firefighters battled the fires.

Dog hiding under furniture is rescued, reunited with family.

Could smell and see smoke from Boston street

I'm just off of Boston St - I couldn't see any smoke, but I sure smelled it. (At first I was looking around my apartment to make sure it wasn't something there - it was that noticeable.) I heard plenty of sirens on their way somewhere as well. My prayers to those affected.

Glad to hear all got out okay and all the firefighters are safe, too.

This is a bad time of year for big fires - Revere had 6 alarms last week, 7 alarms for this one this week ... that huge apartment complex fire in Peabody comes to mind, too.
