Quincy man learns only Will Smith gets to smack people around at a Chris Rock performance

A Quincy man who refused to wear a mask at one of Chris Rock's performances at the Wilbur Theatre last night was arrested after allegedly attacking two theater staffers, his own father and a Boston Police officer, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Kaleb Herd, 25, was released on his own recognizance at his arraignment today on three counts of assault and battery, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and trespassing, the DA's office reports.

The Herald reports Herd's father agreed to leave quietly when theater staffers said they could not stay if they wouldn't wear a mask, but that Herd became so combative police had to use pepper spray on him.

"Hopefully the next time Mr. Herd attends a public event he’ll be smart enough to adhere to the basic rules,” acting DA Kevin Hayden said.

Innocent, etc.

This perfectly shows the potential clarifying utility of the Oxford comma

although it is amusing to imagine Herd's own father and a Boston Police Officer as theater staffers at a Chris Rock show.

Why buy a ticket to a masks-required event if you refuse to wear a mask? And then you beat your own father? You anti-maskers baffle me.

Even T bus drivers, the last real holdouts of mask enforcement, have largely given up trying, possibly because someone who refuses to wear a mask on a bus might stab his way through the problem

Thanks, Adam, for the sensible reporting.
