Man who is part of an investment group that buys up Boston dives has a sideline: Trying to open the nation's first topless dispensary
By adamg on Fri, 02/24/2023 - 3:18pm
Julius Sokol, part of a group that has spent the past few years buying Boston-area dives, and which hopes to re-open the old Jacob Wirth, is seeking approval to convert a western-Mass. strip club he co-owns into what could be the nation's first topless marijuana dispensary, the Hampshire Gazette reports.

I'm envisioning
Edibles in the shape of nips to go.
Good guess!!
As soon as I saw the headline, I figured that this would be a Whately, Massachusetts story - forgot the strip club has closed.
"There are no bongs
in The Champagne Room!"
Only if the men have to be bottomless
Topless would be discrimination on the basis of sex. Topless could also be a violation of 1st Amendment religious rights.
If they want to use the sexual enticement of women's breasts as a draw to customers then that means that only straight men, gay women and bi folks will be interested. That is discrimination on the basis of sex. The only way around that is to provide a visual enticement of sexual character that also creates a comfortable atmosphere for straight women, gay men and bi folks.
How are religious rights violated? Using sexual enticement to draw customers away from pot shops that do not feature topless women discriminates against the religious right to make money without resorting to lewd and lascivious inducements. It's in the Bible (somewhere)!
No need
Topless men, too.
They are just mammary glands, not genitalia.
Eroticism is not just about genitalia
Erotic does not exclusively equate to genitalia. After all the largest sex organ of the human body is the brain. Legally exposed breasts of a woman can get unwanted attention from police; exposed breasts of men do not. So toplessness of men does not compare to toplessness of women in this context.
Topless women is an attraction based on erotic desires.
You speak as if only cis het males matter
Thanks for the mansplain on eroticism, though,
You might try speaking for yourself. As a cis het female I find a nice firm male chest erotic, too. I'm sure some men here would agree, and that some women would similarly find boobs nice to look at, too.
As for "attention from police" consider what the sign says when you enter a store or restaurant.
Swirls
You and I agree and I appreciate your post.
I'm not speaking, I'm writing
The term mansplain is stale. It is nothing more than a boring attempt at ad hominem attack. Resorting to ad hominem attacks instead of addressing the argument is part of the toolkit of right wing fanatic argumentation. I'm sure you would respond to a right winger who relies upon ad hominem attack of one of your many arguments to either offer a valid response or just pass by.
I read your comments and often agree. Even to the point of appreciating some insight in the comments. But when your comments turn into ad hominem attacks (against me or anyone else) my respect for your comments diminishes.
One other item: Before stepping onto a high horse and proclaiming with crude and peurile insult try reading a little more closely. My entire original comment was written with, as the saying goes, tongue in cheek. Note the bit about religious discrimination.
What argument?
What IS your argument? I saw a bunch of assertions about what is and isn't erotic, and they sure looked pretty subjective to me.
Turning into a T&A show without the 3's Company humor
Read the first statement I wrote. That if this pot shop is allowed to have topless women as clerks then they should be allowed to have bottomless men as clerks as well. The reasoning being that for straight men and gay/bi women a woman's breasts can be erotic. Therefore, to avoid discrimination on the basis of sex (specifically sexual desire), the male counterpart to topless women are bottomless men. Emphasis on the bottomless attribute being applied to men, not women.
While I meant the statement with some levity, I do believe that there is a double standard based on sexual objectification if female clerks are required to be topless but no contextual counterpart is required of men. The discrimination is based on the theory that topless women have more erotic charge than topless men.
After all is said and done the idea of topless female clerks is a gimmick. Just like the topless news reporting that came out of Russia, if I remember correctly.
What surprises me is the vehemence behind the disagreement. That is weird to me because the attraction of topless bars is that the women are topless. Nothing else. Or the video trope where a man's eyes are focused on a woman's breasts while he is conversing with the woman. The woman then has to tell the man, "Eyes here," meaning her eyes. For that matter why would a pot shop owner even have the idea? The answer to that question is easy. Sex sells. Women who are naked from the waist up are effectively offered as sex objects for the delectation of customers. I'm thinking particularly of young male customers. The widespread availability of porn does not make the real thing right in front of a young man's nose any less appealing.
To me claiming that a woman bare breasted has no erotic appeal is bs. And the comparison of bare breasted women clerks to bare breasted male clerks is tantamount to a denial of sexism. The sexism being the objectification of women by focusing on their bodies, particularly upon, to use blunt language, a woman's chest as a platform for suspended bouncing boobs.
Or are we, who live in the Boston region, so morally and spiritually superior to the rest of the nation that objectification of women no longer exists here?
As a person responding, let me ask you: If you are a person whose sexual attraction includes women do you consider women's breasts to be erotic in any way? Are they a sexual turn on?
As with any purchasing decision...
The buyer determines if a product or outlet is for them.
will love whatever Sokol does
as long as he follows through with re-opening Jake Wirth's as it was.
why not go all out
He should add Keno or Sports Betting.
The Massachussets Trifecta of naughtiness.
Boobs
Weed
Betting
Why stop there?
You need to add in booze for the rare quadrafecta.
because
the Cannabis law prohibits booze and weed in the same facility
(I think)
Trust me I thought of that too.
The word you are reaching for, I believe,
is superfecta.
Nah
I chose the word I used.
Best Idea
Keno and sports betting are the best idea
I'm a little unclear on their physical security plan.
How can they secure the product without a roof?
great joke
but i came for the boobs
From boobs to bud.
That could be their slogan. Easy to remember, a bit of alliteration to imply some literate intelligence. Has a nice syllogistic ring to it. Creates a feeling of an organic (pun intended) relationship between anatomy and product. Subtly evokes the mommy quality of breasts and breast feeding along with the pleasures derived from a natural chemical. When the bud is inhaled (i.e, sucked) that action evokes the homely and comforting pleasures of suckling from mommy's breasts.
So many associations with just a simple phrase. Don Draper would be proud!
if you need topless budtenders…
if you need topless budtenders to
sell your cannabis, it must be ditchweed garbage.
