Some outlets reported he was arrested at ‘his home’ in Hull. Is the residency requirement for city of Boston employees even a thing anymore? Seems like a lot of selective enforcement.

Four year member of BPD would still have to maintain their own residence in the city.

Assault and drug possession and he gets a $500 bail?! Can you imagine what a coviluan would get? Especially a poor black or Latino civilian? Also he’s only been a BPD officer for 4 years and already isn’t living in Boston? I thought Boston Police had to live in Boston? These jobs should go to Boston residents not suburbanites.

Good, bad or indifferent, is there not a residency requirement for city employees, including police officers hired after 1976? Four years prior to taking the Civil Service police exam and then for at least the first 10 years of employment?
If the rule is bad or wrong or having some sort of negative effects, surely it could and should be revisited but it does exist at this point in time and a Boston Police officer who has been employed for 4 years (and wasn't even alive in 1976) should not be living in Hull if this rule is being enforced.
