Two shot in Lower Mills; one dies

Boston Police report a double shooting at 115 River St. early this morning left one person dead.
Police say they were called to Carney Hospital around 2:40 a.m. when two people with gunshot wounds showed up there:
One victim is 27 year old black male suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the arm. The second victim is a 28 year old black female who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. She has succumbed to her injury and was pronounced.
Police say the man drove himself and the woman to the hospital.

The theory was still; chances of getting shot go up late night / early morning, so you can lower your chances by going to bed at 10ish or so instead of lurking around a neighborhood at 2am.

There was a recent report on Boston government and law enforcement management of gang issues including gun violence by the Kennedy School of government. Maybe the issues that they raise, as substantive and pivotal, are the ones a serious discussion of the issue could attempt to treat. who has a link to that report?

what about that little baby who was shot a few weeks ago, in her apartment, while her father was holding her? If she was outside for a walk, she wouldn't have gotten hit by a bullet in her home.

My theory for not getting shot in, er, "the hood": Don't hang out with people who have hits out on them, at 2am or otherwise. Especially if you're a baby. Seriously, you'd think these damn babies would know better.
In all seriousness: Lower Mills is a working-class neighborhood, but the hood it ain't. Tom Finneran lives a few blocks from the latest incident. Deval Patrick's bazillion-dollar mansion is practically next door. The local Civic Association is alive and kicking. The state has been pouring millions of dollars into the bike paths and parkland along the Neponset River. It's a civil-servant neighborhood--half the city-owned vehicles you see around town are parked in people's driveways. If this brazen bullshit is going down here, watch your asses, Boston.

I didnt know Tiffany at all. But I cried and am saddened by what has happened to her as those who knew her. This city shouldnt be sleeping when a woman is murdered. When did life loose its value that this is what its resorted to? This woman was someone's mother, daughter and friend. Her life was cut short for what? NOTHING!

First let me send my condolences to the children who no longer have their mother. Second,let me say to everyone who knew and loved Tiff like me that I am sorry for the loss. With that said....I cant understand how some of you are coming to this site saying that everyone knows what happened and that justice needs to be served, when no one is doing anything to see to it. How can you call yourself loyal to her. Do you really think she's watching over you from heaven? Tiffany's life is not going to be some tragedy for people to talk about behind closed doors. To everyone who is posting condolences for Tiffany please help solve this murder. If you really care and are concern about her children you will help bring the people who are involved in this crime to justice. How can her children grow up and feel safe knowing there mothers murders are still running the streets. Can you imagine the impact it will have on them!!! This murder hurts me to the sole because as mentioned by other commenters this is a mother, and you left two children in this world without the physical presence of a parent. I did know her son's father Jim, grew up with him and i can only say the two spirits combined of Jim and Tiffany watching over their children is a powerful thing, these children will have such great strength and become everything you'd want them to be and more because of your spiritual guidance. I am positive justice will be served!! The spirit is a much higher power than the physical presence. Blessing and peace to her children, family and friends.

Yesterday we (Lesha, Chante, Shaunte, and me)took the kids to rollerworld in Saugus. They had a ball, none of them can barely skate. Heaven girl is so much like you its crazy her mouth the things that roll off her tongue i was like this little girl is something else. Like I said they enjoyed it and was ready for bed when they got dropped off. I can tell you this is that your kids are doing good.

It has taken me a really long time to write something on here, but I think I am ready now. I come on and read the comments every day, but I couldn't pull myself to write anything. I couldn't do it because you are GONE but you were like my sister Tiff. ....SHIT you ARE my sister. Nothing will take that away, not even a coward and a bullet.
Damn, I still can't believe you are gone. It hasn't hit me yet I don't think. It's just so hard because I see YOU in your children, everyday and every night. But don't worry, they are alright. They miss you and love you and it has been hard for them, I'm not gonna lie, BUT they are doing just fine. As for me, I'm alright ... I guess.

Heaven is starting kindergarten in a couple of weeks and you NEEDED to be see that. Jim is riding a BIG bike and you NEEDED to be here for that. I am about to take on some big changes in my life and I know you would have been proud of me, but you NEEDED to experience that with me. WHY? Oh it's so hard to deal with it all, especially because I don't want the kids to see that I'm hurting.
You never imagine that you would need to make funeral agreements, obituaries, pins, and arrange a re-pass for someone you just saw or spoke to. Someone so full of life one day and gone the next. It is unbelievable that you aren't here with us, but I know you are in a better place. This is really hard for me and even though I have so much more to say, I'm gonna go now.
