Elvia McField, 56.

Meanwhile, the Suffolk County DA's office reports that suspect - and next-door neighbor - Charles Cherry was ordered held without bail.

According to prosecutors, Cherry actually shot McField, rather than stabbed her in her BHA senior-citizens apartment, as earlier reports had indicated. The fatal bullet allegedly went through her lung and carotid artery:

Investigators followed a blood trail from the scene of McField's death to Cherry’s apartment nearby. In response to their inquiries, Cherry allegedly said that he knew the victim but that they were no longer friends.

Boston Police executed a search warrant on Cherry’s apartment, finding an area of blood on his door jamb that was consistent with McField's height. They also recovered a rifle, a spent shell casing consistent with that rifle, and a portion of a projectile that will be subjected to forensic examination.
