Man charged with trying to beat transit cop with a cane at Dudley station

MBTA Transit Police report a man apparently upset at being told to stay out of Dudley station a week ago returned this morning and tried to beat the cop who had banned him.

According to the officer's report, she had just arrived at the station for work around 7:15 a.m. today, when she was confronted by Henry L. Alexander, 51, of Dorchester, who, she wrote, threatened to beat her up. She told him to scram again, but a few minutes later, he returned, this time with a silver cane, which he allegedly tried to use against the officer:

I avoided being hit by the cane several times. Alexander then cocked back his cane, charged at me and with a full high swing attempted to hit me in my head. The swing and cane hit my hat, knocking it off my head. I pursued Alexander out of the station and onto Malcolm X Blvd. Alexander continued to violently swing his cane at me.

Finally, she writes, she was able to tackle Alexander with the help of a Boston cop and put him under arrest on a charge of assault on a police officer.
