Boston Police report a woman crossing the street at Dorchester Avenue and Dix Street around 9 p.m. yesterday was hit by a vehicle that then kept going.
On arrival, officers located the victim, a pedestrian, lying face down in the roadway. The victim, a 42 year-old female, was transported to the Boston Medical Center where she’s being treated for life threatening injuries.

But what's with this seeming utter disregard for human life in this Dorchester? And what can be done about it? I'm asking this here because apparently no one else is getting much done about it.

Yes, this is fucked up, but things like that have happened in other neighborhoods, plus that part of Dorchester is one of the nicer ones where people know their neighbors and there are a lot of homeowners and whatnot.
Oh, and Dorchester is Boston's biggest neighborhood.
This could have happened anywhere

since there are cars and drivers (including reckless ones) everywhere. Would you have made this comment if the hit-and-run had happened in Belmont or Milton?

Just peruse the posts of the last couple of weeks or the news and I think you'll find a disproportionate level of crime resulting in bodily injury in Dot compared to the rest of the city.
