Man charged with setting ex-girlfriend's house on fire

Boston Police report arresting a man they say set his ex-girlfriend's house on fire early this morning - and then stuck around to watch the flames.

Troy Poindexter, 35, of Mattapan, faces arraignment in Dorchester District Court on Monday on charges of arson and breaking and entering.

According to police, the woman, who has a daughter by Poindexter, came home around 1:40 a.m. to find him coming out her front door - and flames coming off her porch:

Officers observed a victim yelling and pointing at a Ford Expedition SUV color black parked near 20 Stonehurst Street with a male occupant in the front driver's seat. The victim excitedly stated to officers, "He did it!"

Officers observed the suspect was sweating profusely (head, forehead) as if he had been recently involved in some type of strenuous activity.

Police say Poindexter had recently sent the woman several text messages "attempting to restore their previous relationship."

Poindexter used lighter fluid to set the house on fire, police say.

Innocent, etc.
