Police: Dorchester man arrested with loaded gun where another man was shot to death

Boston Police report gang-unit officers arrested a man on gun charges last night outside 55 Downer Ave. in Dorchester - where Jonathan Cardoso was murdered on Sept. 20.

Police say Youth Violence Strike Force officers, who have patrolled the area since Cardoso's murder, spotted a group of guys they knew hanging out there around 6:45 p.m. and went over to talk to them:

One of the men, Pedro Daveiga, 21, of Dorchester, refused to take his hands out of the front pocket of his sweatshirt at which time an officer performed a pat frisk and recovered a loaded 9mm KelTec PF-9 Lugar handgun.

Daveiga was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm.
