Man arrested for stomping man he found breaking into his car in Chinatown

Boston Police logs for Chinatown show that around 1:10 a.m. on Tuesday, officers on patrol found one man on the ground being kicked in the head by another man on Harrison Avenue at Oxford Place.
The suspect had caught the victim breaking into his motor vehicle. They started fighting.
The victim will be summoned into court on a charge of breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

Don't try to steal cars of people who can kick your arse. And since you typically don't know who the owner of a car is, just don't steal cars.
Gotta love the "justice
Gotta love the "justice system." The car thief will probably get a lighter penalty than the guy protecting his property.

Because human life still has a bit more value than an inanimate object, so assault and battery with a dangerous weapon carries a higher penalty than breaking into a car. Don't like it? Get yourself elected to the legislature or something.

I'm not, either, but we also have a concept of proportionality. Kicking a man until he's dead (which could have happened had some cops not happened by) over a car break-in?

Yes, congratulations: An X-ray machine is more valuable than a degenerate murderer. Maybe if we were talking about Dylann Roof shooting an X-ray machine, your logic would make sense. But we're not, and it doesn't.
And even if one could defend
And even if one could defend the argument of a particular piece of property being worth more than a particular human life, or even define that meaningfully, it's really asking the wrong question.
The real question is whether vengeance is worth more than preserving the processes and principles of due process. This country was founded on those principles, so you'd have an uphill battle for sure.
Where do you live?
I can tell it either isn't Massachusetts or you haven't been here for long.
You don't get to play the property card for a beat down. This isn't Florida.
Also, please point to a clause in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights where you get to kill someone for touching your property. Take your time.
Enforce the law
Enforce the laws that protect the victim but also protects the criminals, do I always like it, fucks no; would change for any other system of government, absolutely not. I can use a make over.

Why are you assuming that all is as the stomper told it?
Inquiry is necessary - otherwise, you could claim that you killed someone because you caught them breaking into your car, when that someone was a person you had a beef with/bad drug deal/etc.
For those who rail
For those who rail incessantly about our supposedly lax judicial system, would you prefer living under the Taliban? They have some very effective punishments---stoning, beheading, cutting of hands, etc. The rigid and excessively punitive Law and Order approach has no place in a civilized country, although it may be reborn under our "enlightened" President-elect.
