Police say drunk driver kills pedestrian in East Boston, then tries to walk away

Boston Police report arresting a Lynn man they say struck and killed a man with his car around 6 a.m. on Saratoga Street between Brooks and Putnam.

Police say the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Christopher Nalchajian, 33, of Lynn, was arrested near the scene as he tried to get away on foot, police say.

Nalchajian was charged with vehicular homicide, operating under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident causing death, police say.

BPD also posted a death investigation for this. I thought they only posted death investigation details for homicides that are categorized as murders. Seems very odd to me.

Killing somebody with your motor vehicle while drunk is MURDER.
