Police: 15-year-old with loaded gun arrested in Dorchester

Boston Police report arresting a 15-year-old they say was carrying a loaded handgun in Codman Square yesterday afternoon.

Police say gang-unit officers on patrol in the area of Talbot Avenue and Washington Street around 3:20 p.m. spotted a guy "moving in such a way as if to suggest he may be in possession of a firearm" with another male. In particular, they said, the guy started walking faster away from the officers even as he kept looking back at them.

When officers approached the individual in an effort to better examine and understand their observations, the individual, later identified as a 15-year-old juvenile male, threw his hands in the air and began arguing with the officers. Then, while officers were talking to him, the suspect, with an increased look of anxiousness, quickly turned and took off running. After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to subdue the suspect. A pat frisk enabled officers to locate and confiscate a firearm found in the suspect’s waist area. The recovered firearm, which was loaded, was determined to be a black Ruger 9mm Security-9 firearm with obliterated serial numbers.

The teen was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a firearm with obliterated serial numbers, carrying a loaded firearm on a public way and unlawful possession of a large-capacity feeding device, police say.

If we as a city (and society) want to get serious about gun control, dirtbags like this should get an automatic 10 years in prison for illegal possession. You would see less of this bullshit if these losers know they would get more than a slap on the wrist. Does Rollins find this to be a serious crime? Throw the book at this zero and make an example. Otherwise he'll be right back out doing it again.

Seems to me like unnecessary search and seizure, in spite of what may have been found in the search. Simply walking, I assume with a limp, and looking back anxiously at the police is enough to be chased down and searched? How many times does this happen to people where they don’t recover anything
