Man charged with walking up to stranger in Downtown Crossing and punching him in the face for no reason

Boston Police report arresting a man early Saturday after, they say, he walked up to a complete stranger on Washington Street in Downtown Crossing and punched him hard enough in the forehead to open his skin and drench him in his own blood.

Police say the victim and a woman were walking towards Summer Street on Washington Street near Franklin around 1:30 a.m. when the man came up, and punched him, opening up the victim's forehead and quickly covering him in blood. The woman chased him and was able to give police a description. Police say officers found him not long after near the Chinatown Orange Line stop:

Upon being positively identified as the suspect, the male became increasingly agitated and began to violently struggle with officers, kicking and thrashing his body while inside the rear of the patrol wagon. Eventually, officers were able to secure the male who was transported to the station where he refused to be booked.

Luis Andino, 25, of South Boston, was charged with assault and battery causing bodily injury and resisting arrest, police say.

Innocent, etc.
