Boston Police report gang-unit officers arrested a Mattapan man on gun and drug charges after hearing gunfire in the area of Sumner Street near Annapolis Street, in Dorchester around 8:35 p.m. on Saturday.

As officers arrived on Sumner Street, they observed a white vehicle leaving a parking lot at 67 Sumner Street at a high rate of speed. The operator continued fleeing to the area of 3 Annapolis Street where the vehicle came to a stop and the operator turned off the headlights. A search of the motor vehicle led to the discovery of a medium sized plastic bag containing a substance believed to be crack cocaine located in the center console as well as a gun box containing twenty rounds of live ammunition which was located in the trunk of the vehicle.

Officers recovered ballistic evidence in the rear of 69A Sumner Street. The female operator, who possessed an active license to carry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, was later released and issued a summons.
