Man shot on Fayston Street in Dorchester; two arrested

Boston Police report a man was shot on Fayston Street around 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday. He was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.

Yesterday afternoon, gang-unit officers arrested Brandy Soto-Lara, 23, of Dorchester and Eliud Benitez, 20, of Roslindale on Quincy Street, near Ceylon Street, for the shooting, police say.

Both were charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon causing serious injury, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say.
