Drunk with a loaded gun grabbed and held by man he threatened in Mattapan Square, police say

Boston Police report arresting a guy on charges he pointed a loaded gun at another man around midnight at 550 River St. in Mattapan.

The suspect, later identified as Shane Hampton, 31, of Randolph, walked up to the victim and pulled out a firearm, the victim was able to restrain the intoxicated suspect until police arrived. The firearm was determined to be a 9mm Taurus G2C, loaded with twelve rounds in the magazine. There were no injuries reported.

Hampton was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition, police say.

He was arrested a couple doors down from where five people were shot early on July 5th.
