Man charged with using knife, screwdriver and rock in East Boston attack and armed robbery

Boston Police report arresting an East Boston man on charges of armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon not long after an attack on Border Street near the Umana School in East Boston yesterday afternoon

Police say Lenin Esteban Rios Ramos, 36, waved a knife at another man, hit him with a rock and kicked him in the head, then took $500, shortly after 3:30 p.m.

Officers broadcasted a description of the suspect, and located an individual matching the description, congregating with a group behind the building. Officers detained the suspect, and conducted a pat frisk. Officers recovered a black folding knife, a medium size rock, and a screwdriver from the suspect.

The suspect was charged with armed robbery, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, for the knife and screwdriver, and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, for the rock, police say.
