Boston Police report BPD, State Police and FBI investigators looking into a human-trafficking ring at a Mattapan Square apartment arrested six people Thursday - including one man who tried to flee by jumping out a window, and the man whose car he jumped into in a vain escape attempt.
Police say investigators who have been looking into human trafficking at 884 Cummins Highway in Mattapan Square, executed a search around 9 p.m. on Thursday.
As officers were conducting a protective sweep of the apartment, they observed an opened window which appeared someone had jumped out of. Officers began to search the exterior of the building and observed a discarded Taurus G2C firearm loaded with one round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine under the window. Officers also took notice of a blood stain in the snow which appeared to be from someone jumping out of the window.
Officers observed a vehicle fleeing the area, and were able to conduct a traffic stop in the area of 96 Wood Avenue. Officers made contact with the occupants, and determined that the operator did not have an active license. The operator, Jamell Spurill, 42, of Boston, was placed under arrest for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Officers observed the passenger of the vehicle to have injuries consistent with jumping out of the window.
That man, not named because he was still hospitalized, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large-capacity feeding device and defacing a firearm serial number. He was also charged as a Level 3 armed-career criminal, which could mean longer sentences if convicted of the other charges.
Police did not specify which of the floors in the three-story building the man jumped from.
Back at the apartment, police say, investigators found 17 bags of crack and arrested four people: A 15-year-old on a charge of being deliquent for unlawful possession of ammunition, Betzabeliz Rivera, 31, of Mattapan on a warrant for possession of cocaine, Amaury Guzman, 32, of Mattapan, on a warrant for unarmed burglary, and Charles Griffin, 29, of Mattapan, on a warrant for unarmed burglary.
Innocent, etc.

When you feel jumping out a closed window is a better option than going back there.
