Oxymoron: Gentlemen and tank tops

Some Assembly Required doesn't care how hot it gets: Middle-aged men should just never wear tank tops:
... I would be willing to put on long pants, even on a 96-degree day in August, if I knew that it meant all the other patrons at that restaurant had to do the same thing, and if it would assure me I wouldn't have to see any men in tank tops.

Just an FYI: I'm with you on the men (young or old) out and about in tank tops, but I also feel the same way about men in "fisherman" sandals. Or flip flops. Or any "open-toed" footwear. Who wants to see your gnarly toes?

As it happens, my toes are not gnarly, but even so, my fisherman sandals are closed in front. So back at you, kettle. But thanks for chiming in just the same.
Undress
It may surprise some people to learn that even gentlemen get undressed sometimes. Most, however, do so in appropriate places.
I am all in favor of dress codes at restaurants. I don't really want a side of hairy armpit with my foie gras. But there are other public spaces that belong to all, and getting picky about the way other people dress everywhere is pretty pointless. Where would it end? I wear flip-flops frequently, and I think they're superb footwear for most occasions, including going to the supermarket. I may also be seen sometimes flaunting my voluminous gut at Roche Bros. in a tank-top. I quite like the way the breezes catch my back hair.
But you young whipper-snappers haven't the right to speak to me about vestimentary pecadillos, because I also wear trousers that actually cover my underwear.
Burkas for All Men
Why not? I see some poor little Somali girls in five layers of long-sleeved, long-legged winter clothes in 95F weather, then all men should have to wear full body covering at all times!
They ain't half as cute, so God says they MUST cover up!
