Loud people

Any advice on how to deal with neighbors' volume control issues without enduring too much wrath? My plates are rattling in the sink.
Landlord has already sent neighbors letters and talked to them about it, nothing he has done has been too effective. Of course, he doesn't have to live with them.

we used to have a greek family that lived above us and they drove us crazy with all the noise.they were always having people over and having parties and playing loud music etc.....
whenever my family would go out for any period of time (including weekends on the cape) my dad would turn on a spanish AM radio station that would blast the whole time we were gone.after a few trips the greek neighbor came down and asked what was up and the lines of communication were opened.everybody was a little quieter after this.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it?

Your dad couldn't have started by introducing himself and requesting that they keep it down a little?

You can always strip what bostonkid said of the specific ethnic stuff and it still holds - often the best way to fight noise at bad times is to use noise at times that are inconvenient for the noisy.

Some people really do need a taste of their own medicine to *get* what the problem is.
