Jonah Kaplan blames actual fans for what happened Sunday night:
As my four-year college career heads unfortunately toward its end, I can't help but think about how things have come full circle. I still love grilled cheese; I still attend Elie Wiesel's lectures and now, again, I have to watch Red Sox Nation turn into a bunch of hooligans and contemptible heathens.

So, out of the millions of Red Sox fans around New England, you see a bunch of college students rioting and assume they're representative of all of us? Nice. You're in an area that has a HUGE concentration of college-aged yahoos, MOST of whom have no more investment in the Boston area than the four years they're here to go to school, and because out of the MILLIONS of people who have been fans forever, and who celebrated responsibly and had fun, you only saw the few who behaved like idiots - and all of Red Sox Nation is hateful?
I'm with you that I'm sick of the 'yankees suck' chant in general and having to hear it when the Yankees aren't even relevant (I've heard it at concerts too, just stupid) but don't think that those idiots are representative of ALL of Red Sox nation.
And how do you know that in other cities people DIDN'T cause property damage in celebration of a sports championship? HOW DO YOU KNOW? I have seen news reports at various times about people in New York, Cleveland, LA...all over the place, going NUTS in their enthusiasm, tipping cars, burning things - don't label ALL of RSN hateful because of a few idiots. There are idiots everywhere.
You pompous jackass.
