Central Square burglar was quite industrious, police say

Cambridge Police report arresting a local man they say repeatedly broke into Central Square businesses, at least one home and three vehicles and say he made off with $80,000 in equipment and furniture from just one Central Square business over a two-day period.

Michael Dellea, 38, was formally charged with break-ins at two businesses, but is a suspect in the rest, between April and this month, police say, adding he would typically stay up way into the night to stage his burglaries.

His two-day haul from the one Central Square business included an audio/video system, speakers, a scanner, a binding machine and a projector - and chairs - police say.

After Dellea provided consent to search his apartment, officers recovered a number of recently reported stolen items from other businesses and residents in the area, including debit/credit cards, laptops, cell phones, tablets, electrical tools, and bicycles.

Dellea faces charges that include felony breaking and entering in the nighttime, larceny from a building and receiving stolen property, police say.
