The proposal to block off the Brookline side of Heath Street

during rush hours or whenever to Newton residents is not uncommon. There are already some streets in some parts of Boston that don't allow rush-hour vehicular traffic to cut through. Who knows what would come of this?
What the fuck??

Somebody's trying to make me look like a complete jackass here, because every time I post a reply to a certain topic, it goes into another one. Fuck this shit!! Don't lay the blame on me, because I'm smarter than you all think I am.!!
Please settle down

I will take a look to see what's happening.
Nobody's trying to make you look like a jackass; you've either made a cut-and-paste mistake or there's a problem with the software and/or database. I'm the only person with access to the backend database and believe me, I really have better things to do with my time than do something like that intentionally.
If you have multiple reply windows open at once

or submit them at once, is it possible that some of the replies will end up on the wrong threads?

You paste into the wrong windows. The forms have variables set for the specific threads you're posting into. Look at the URL the next time you click on Reply to something.
w00t I know what a global variable is!

And why it's dangerous!
(Did I mention I'm taking a C++ class?)

Actually, it's Intro to Programming _Using_ C++. Apparently it's a good first language.
Next semester it's either VB or Java. Hopefully also a 2nd-level web-development class, teaching javascript, DHTML, maybe a little XML too, I can't remember.
Any opinions on whether VB or Java would be bettah?

I'd suggest either PHP or Perl.
In terms of careers, Java would do you much better than VisualBasic, I'd think, although you'll be competing with the entire nation of India, which seems to have adopted Java as a new national language (it's just absolutely amazing how many Java coders there are there these days).

Wow, people still use C++? r0x0r. They shoved java down our throats. boo-urns on all that.
I am still hoping that QBASIC and Pascal make a comeback. Then I can rule the world with my crazy mad-lib coding skillz0rz.
...Er, I mean, let's pretend that was in English.
Oh, yeah, the good ol' days

When you could go into Lechmere and call up BASIC on the computers and type
10 PRINT "YOU SUCK!"
20 GOTO 10
With maybe some looping to get the thing to flash nicely. And then repeat on all the other PCs.
[Sigh]. Now I'm reduced to going into Toys R Us or Rite-Aid or whatever and pressing all the start buttons on the dancing Santas and it's just not the same. No creativity whatsoever.
Right now...

That's SUN for UNIX, reading this stuff, and feeling
wicked old. Am guessing that most the stuff I'm
using is actually written in C...

I'm well under 30 and coded in BASIC plenty and remember often raiding Lechemere for their $2 classical music CDs.

How about we ban over
By StrikeEm'Out

How about we ban over privileged trust fun babies who go to games for status and sit behind home plate on their cell phone, waving into the camera the whole game?
They should give those tickets to kids with cancer...
(that would get rid of a ton of pink hats in the process too)
If you ban fans with cellphones

Cell Phones
By Michael

You don't have to ban cell phones outright; just make a rule that, if someone is standing up and waving with their cell phone, anyone who throws pizza, beer cups, D-cell batteries, or angry wolverines at them will not be prosecuted or punished.

Consider the Wolverine
By CSPDW
Wed, 11/28/2007 - 4:56pm
The Cambridge Society for the Protection of Disenfranchised Wolverines (CSPDW) has put out an Action Alert to it’s members (both) for an urgent meditation-in on behalf of our snarling furry friends. We urge you to consider the wolverine before chucking it at a lethal cellphone-radiation-emitting fellow sporting patrons.
