Third floor of Mattapan three decker catches fire

Boston firefighters responded to 17 Verrill St., between Morton and Woolson streets in Mattapan, for a fire reported shortly after 4 p.m. Seven people were displaced by the fire.

I live across the street and one house over from that building and because I work nights I'm sleeping most afternoons. I put in ear plugs earlier yesterday morning to help me sleep and I did not hear any of this happening. I have to imagine at least one BFD ladder truck and one BFD pumper truck responded yet I heard not a peep! The Fire Station is less than 8 blocks away too.

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing; What do you think?

you'll hear your own smoke/CO2 detector go off (but hope you never have to).
