What those Esplanade joggers should do

You know, the ones risking life and limb in the snow: Drive up to the North Shore and find a beach. Ana Salwa reports:

... I set out at noon. I was surprised how beautiful and calm the beach was in the winter. The serenity I experienced while I ran set it apart from any seasons of the year. I almost cried as I ran. I missed the raw feeling I had when my feet hit the wet sand. I missed the sound of my breathing as I inhaled slowly in five counts and let it go in seven counts.

The waning curve of the beach stretched ahead of me. The distant sky, the waves, the deserted beach and me. ...

And then she helped some girls make a snowwoman.

I'm sure the North Shore is nice, but the Esplanade is WONDERFUL in the snow. I went for a run over the Mass Ave Bridge and up the Boston side of the river on the Thursday we had the big storm, and a few times since. Each time it's been lovely. You just have to run gingerly.

I saw a bunch of people either jogging on the beach or playing with their dogs at low tide in Lynn. A few people were even standing on patches of sand surrounded by water. I hope they weren't trapped!

Most people who are half serious about jogging would note the idiocy in driving to a place to jog.

I don't jog, but given the choice between trying to run on unshoveled and unsalted sidewalks and streets in my neighborhood and hopping in the car to find a safe place to run, I'd choose the latter.
