Bloomberg is an rational former Republican. He isn't insane, isn't pandering to the wingnuts and godbags, and has actively governed NYC in a somewhat progressive and highly involved fashion. Kind of like Schwartzenegger, but with natal citizenship.
Those attributes alone set him way far apart from the passengers in what blogger Pam Spaulding has described as the GOP Clown Car.
He's from our neighborhood, too. Bonus points because we get to trot out that "anybody can be president thing" for free for the rest of our sons' childhoods.

I'm for any third party candidate in our electoral system, particularly one like Bloomberg with sufficient funds to pay for his own campaign and avoid (at least in appearance) any affiliation with special interests. Better yet is a candidate like Bloomberg who switched from the Dems to the Reps to get elected Mayor and then switched back again, thus demonstrating total mockery of the two party system and ensuring that he isn't beholden to either political machine. That said, if it came down to voting for him or voting Obama/Clinton vs. any of the Republican candidates, Bloomberg doesn't get my vote, even in Mass. where the electoral votes are locked in for the Dems.
Too many New Yorkers?

Imagine a presidential contest of Clinton vs. Giuliani vs. Bloomberg.
