Roxbury teen arrested for murder of man who'd moved back to Boston for a new start

Judge Edward Redd, Roxbury District Court, ordered Washington held without bail until a July 7 court appearance.

Prosecutors say the victim and suspect knew each other:

Assistant District Attorney Ian Polumbaum told the court that Kakay and Washington, who were known to one another, had "engaged in a conversation that turned to trash talking" on the night of May 17.

At some point during the exchange, Polumbaum said, the defendant left the scene, saying he would "be back." He allegedly obtained a firearm, returned shortly before 8:45 p.m., and shot Kakay. Polumbaum said Washington fired once while the victim was standing and again when he fell to the ground.
