Miss Von Schtoop got tired of wondering what's happened to Frances Rivera's face ("Poor thing with that face that keeps getting tighter and higher"), so she grabbed a local TV listing, fired up Excel and compiled a chart showing just how much news all of our local Boston stations broadcast each week. "If you can call it news," she added, dourly.

I hope she doesn't think

I hope she doesn't think it's just channel 7 that's bad. If you took out the time spent on giggling, the channel 4 news would be down to about 10 minutes per half hour. I think there's giving Jack Williams happy pills to keep the humiliation from killing him.
So there's quantity and then there's quality

Cleary Squared goes beyond Miss Von Schtoop's numbers and reviews each local newscast, for example:
With bonus review of the news stylings of WGBH/PBS.
Bad grammar

Channel 7 is the one that bugs me the most. They use a sort of cutsey style of talking instead of just reporting the news, or maybe it's hip & I'm not hip, e.g. Instead of saying "The man walked down the street." they say "The man? He walked down the street." And they do that in just about every story. I'm pretty sure they are going after the younger demographic & they are trying to talk like them.
