My office is right outside the newsroom "snack zone." Somebody just put out a bag of chocolate-covered coffee beans. I think I just ate half the bag and now the room appears to be spinning. I should probably stop eating them, given that I have to drive home in another couple of hours.

when I hit up three Starbucks within about five hours for free coffee on Election Day.
I don't think that would be a wise decision

I briefly tried chocolate-covered coffee beans while writing a thesis. They are way too easy to munch absent-mindedly while working. Never again.
BTW, caffeine can actually mess with your vestibular system, causing dizziness, balance problems, concentration problems, etc., not unlike alcohol in that regard. If someone is under the influence of caffeine, might be a good idea to wait before driving. Unlike the folk remedy for sobering up from alcohol, however, a cup of black coffee is *not* a good idea. :)

I think Swirly may be suggesting that you have a shot to calm yourself down :-)

We actually had a pro-alcohol policy here - people were allowed to drink at the end of the work day/week - I remember the time I broke some story on deadline and, after I was done writing it, my editor cracked open a beer and handed it to me. Then HR decided that since we were on the fifth floor of an office building with a balcony overlooking the building atrium, that might not be the smartest thing to encourage, so we waited until we moved to a more enclosed space the next town over.

As in: "I've just consumed
halfmost of a bag of chocolate-covered coffee beans, now I will retire to the break room to consume several cups of fine Keurig single-serving coffee in an attempt to sober up for my 45-minute commute home."it'll also dehydrate you

Caffeine is a diuretic, so drink some water...
Give it about 3-4 hours and you'll be down to half the caffeine level, according to Wikipedia.
