CBS censors Channel 4 clip it didn't like on YouTube

You may recall that YouTube clip showing some Masshole cursing out a Channel 4 reporter sliding toward him in a van during our first major snowstorm of the season - and Jack Williams's droll response. Hanover and Prince reports today that YouTube has yanked the video because some lawyer at CBS has apparently decided "fair use" only applies to people who can afford expensive television studios:

CBS Broadcasting, Inc has claimed some or all audio and visual content in your video Random Dude Drops F-Bomb During Live Storm Coverage on Boston TV News. This claim was made as part of the YouTube Content Identification program.

Your video is no longer available because CBS Broadcasting, Inc has chosen to block it.

NBC challenges all of their content on YouTube including SNL and other popular programming. CBS seems to allow partial clips, such as 3 of Letterman's top 10 but not all. MSNBC seems to allow everything.

I think universal has an automated search mechanism that identified the content and objects promptly. You can challenge it, just state your reason.

It's documented evidence of a violation of the FCC's profanity rules; that footage should have been on delay, and wasn't. If someone hasn't told the FCC yet, this was a keep-it-under-the-rug damage control.

Then again, we should live in a country where "fuck" can be said on the air- the words I heard on my gradeschool playground would've made an FCC commissioner blush, and I grew up in the 'burbs.
