Worcester offers contract to Manny Ramirez:
Worcester, MA January 27, 2009 -- The Worcester Tornadoes Professional Baseball Team has offered a contract to free agent outfielder Manny Ramirez for two years worth $24,000. The deal would pay the 12-time Major League Baseball All-Star approximately $3,000 during each month of the Can-Am Baseball Season. Unlike Major League Baseball, the Can-Am League operates with a salary cap, and the deal for Ramirez would be on par with other veterans in the league.

Worcester sauce
Someone had to invoke that saucy stuff...
Anyway, good for the Tornadoes. Do they also need a veteran catcher?
Congrats, Adam!!
This is the 23,000 "post" (not sure what all qualifies as a "node" in the URL, but this is the 23,000th one).
Also, re: Manny contract: Oh, snap!
Numbers are meaningless, alas
For some reason, the guy who came up with the idea for this software decided to refer to "pages" as "nodes" (there's a good databasey reason, I'm sure, but for us non-Computer-Science types, it's um, what?). In any case, the actual number of "nodes" in the system is a lot less than 23,000 - because the system doesn't fill in blank spots in the database if you do something like, oh, import several hundred pages from an older site you run, then decide they didn't look quite right and delete them, and then import them again (and this time remembering to turn off the module that auto-posts everything to Twitter so you don't get angry/quizzical notes from people wondering why you just tried tweeting old stuff several zillion times).
