This looks like a survival curve, with time on the x axis and population on the y axis.
Survival curves are particularly useful for calculating a hazard ratio based on number of cats introduced into the situation. Even though the cats eventually get full, the mice eventually figure out that preditors make things difficult and leave, maintaining the hazard function.
