Paul Levy raves about the Danish Pastry House, which sells pastry just like you'd get in Copenhagen, only now in Medford and Watertown, you know: Spandauer, wienerbrod, marzipan frogs, thebirkes and, of course, the kringle. From his description, the rugbrod could serve as an acceptable bagel replacement.

Theberkies
It's all about theberkies (pronounced teh-BURK'-is, I think). It's a twisty roll with poppy seeds on the outside and sugar and butter on the inside.
Community Meeting Zone
As it is the only coffee house within some range, it has become a very popular meeting zone for community groups and get-togethers. It is also a very nice spot for some self-indulgent mental space time of a weekend day.
