Eck didn't know it's a no-no to chat up a no-no

Eck's job when he's covering a game is to report what's going on. Stupid superstitions have no place in the broadcast booth. If I'm walking by a TV because I can't sit down to watch the whole game, I shouldn't need to guess what's going on just to make some superstitious twat happy.

BTW, I think it's telling that fans think this is a big deal, and that you "never" talk about an on-going no-no, but that a guy who has actually played major league ball has never heard of this before and thinks it's kind of ridiculous. Someone needs to get over it. That someone isn't Eck.

That's what happens when you get these know-nothing celebrities in the booth.

Agreed. I like Eck. People need to remember that Remy sucked once, too.

Your words have no effect on the outcome. I think it's silly for fans to be superstitious about this. But to each their own. If I'm with someone I know cares, I shut my mouth.

If you're in the dugout sitting next to Josh, you don't look at him, don't say anything, you pretend he doesn't exist.

If you're a fan, you may dream about being a Sox teammate who's that physically close to the guy that might just pitch a no-hitter, and thus in a position to maybe say or do something that screws him up and ruins it all.

But if you're just a fan, or a sports analyst covering the game, or someone walking by Fenway Park while it's going on, nothing you say or do will change Beckett's chances, no matter how much you want to believe that wearing that unwashed shirt for ten days in a row helps your team win.

Also, evolution is real.
