16-year-old charged with gunning down man in Mattapan
Damante Burrell of Dorchester was arrested this morning on charges he pumped repeated rounds into Fred Bing, 49, leaving him to die on Wilcock Street in Mattapan on May 14.
Burrell is expected to be arraigned this afternoon in Suffolk Superior Court on a charge of first-degree murder. He was indicted yesterday following a two-month grand-jury investigation into Bing's death at 23 Wilcock St.. According to a statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney's office:
Bing died of multiple gunshot wounds, including one that went through his lung. His body was recovered early on May 14 in a driveway on Wilcock Street in Mattapan, where gunshots were reported the previous night. Bing had been on the sidewalk talking with friends, who after the shots thought he had simply gone home.

Prosecutors say the kid was placed on Wilcock Street at the time of the shooting because of the ankle monitoring bracelet he was wearing for an unrelated juvenile case at the time.
