Grabauskas: Aloisi is a liar

On "Greater Boston" last night, MBTA General Manager Dan Grabauskas was discussing the need for fare increases when Emily Rooney asked him about criticism from state Transportation Secretary James Aloisi for not being available last week when the feds released a critical report on that fatal Green Line crash. You may recall that Aloisi said he couldn't reach Grabauskas.

Grabauskas said he was on a forced, unpaid five-day furlough. But he said Aloisi knew how to reach him:

What he said was not true. ... He didn't try to get in touch with me. It's a lie.

Grabauskas's entire interview with Rooney.

Going back to his days as a major player in the Big Dig fiasco, has Aloisi ever told the truth??

The thing that irks me is when he says "I have to do [this]," like he's some sort of island, and it's his system...it's our system, and he works for us, and it's about time he started acting like it.

So he's saying he's a pushover with no responsibilities, and not the general manger of one of the biggest transit systems in the US?

How about some leadership?

Please.

Time for Dan to go.

Lets get someone who has credentials in regional planning and public transportation in there. Not someone who's fine with sitting down, shutting up, signing off on expansion, and then asking for cuts and fare raises.

it IS time for someone to go... but it's not Grabauskas, it's Aloisi. every single time his name appears in the media, it's associated with something bad. of course, being incapable of telling the truth doesn't help his cause. and what does a person who is on thin ice do when he's about to fall through? he lashes out and blames someone else...which is what Aloisi did last week. as chairman of the MBTA board, he has shown no leadership whatsoever. looks like Gov Patrick is oh for 2 in picking a qualified Transportation Secretary. perhaps he'll get it right the third time. I suspect Aloisi's days are numbered

This is a classic Aloisi move when he hasn't figured out how to respond to bad news yet. Remember when Alan LeBovidge came under fire for the Easter toll screw-up? Afterwards, Aloisi dodged questions for like 3 days by just pretending he hadn't spoken with LeBovidge yet.
