That was no kid: State Police ID guy old enough to know better in zoo plunge

State Police have identified the person who fell 30 feet into a Franklin Park Zoo gorilla pen refashioned as a movie set as Arnold Milfort, 27, of Dorchester.

No animals were harmed in the making of Milfort's plunge, State Police report, adding:

A member of the production crew told State Police that Milfort gained access to the closed set by claiming falsely that he was a zoo employee. Witnesses reported that he tripped and fell into the den shortly before 3:45 p.m.

Initial reports that Milfort was a teenager were based on the fact he looked young; investigators were unable to talk to him as EMTs got him ready for transport to Boston Medical Center.

Milfort, who remains hospitalized with serious injuries, has not been charged at this point.

The gorilla enclosure has been remade into a lion den for a Kevin James movie about a zookeeper. No word on what was wrong with the zoo's actual lions' den. Sam Baltrusis reports James plays a zookeeper who "consults with the animals in an attempt to learn their methods of dating and mating to help him win back the woman of his dreams."

Um, there's a lion in it?

The former outdoor gorilla pen has been unused for a few years now; the lion pen has a lion in it.

If they were going to use the lion pen, they'd have to move the lion.

Using the empty one had to be easier, cheaper, and safer.

My god, that sounds like an AWFUL premise for a movie.
