Oh man, apartment search!

The boy and I have started the search for our next apartment (or rental house, or um...large cardboard box, perhaps). It's more than a little intimidating. We've been in Boston for almost 2 years now, so I could go to school, and he could work :) We found the place we're living in now through a broker, and although the Fens have their charm, let's just say we're looking for something a little less...people throwing up and shrieking below our windows at two in the morning, if you know what I mean. We're not looking for anything fancy, really. 1 bedroom plus an office, or a wee second room. Cat friendly. Maybe a little patch of earth or a deck for a grill. A sense of community, or at least neighbors that don't play their music at earsplitting levels. Sorta close to some branch of the T (Except the B. Nothing is worth that sacrifice, not even a whole brownstone to ourselves for $300 a month. Well, maybe then.) Some parking for a small car would be nice. Ugh. I just hate knowing that I don't have anywhere to live after August. I know we'll find something, but I'm tired of moving. I've moved 4 times in the last 4 years. I want to find our *home.* If anybody is out there...I'll take any advice you've got ;)

I don't have any advice, but I do have a design blog that I run out of Boston that you may enjoy... www.decor8.blogspot.com

Have you tried the 'burbs - maybe Newton Centre, Melrose, parts of JP?

I think you'll find north of the Charles has less puke-inclined students. I've had to move a lot, and Apartment Rental Experts has always been good to me.

I'm guessing you know about it, but just in case, Craig's List (http://boston.craigslist.org/) is a good place to start your search.
