Brian McGrory must not get paid enough
In addition to his Globe duties, it seems like he's taken a second job in the P.R. department of LimoLiner:
At 11:08 a.m., we pulled up to the side of the Hilton Hotel in midtown New York. It all seemed so abrupt I almost wasn't ready to get off. The kind attendant bade me farewell with a chocolate coin, the letters ''LL" imprinted on the wrapper. I'm sorry, but how great is that?
No, pretend I didn't just say that. There's nothing worse than accusing a professional journalist of being on the take. Just ask that New York Post gossip columnist. Slow news days happen. It was probably just that there was absolutely nothing else happening in Boston that might warrant coverage by a metro columnist. Yeah, that's it, right? No wonder McGrory can't wait to get out of town. On the wonderful LimoLiner.

am i mistaken, or is this
am i mistaken, or is this site's administrator somehow connected to the boston globe? shouldn't one divulge this information when writing about ones employer?
They're not my employer
But, yes, I do write a weekly (more or less) column on a freelance basis for their City Weekly section. Do I really need to put my disclosure on every single post in which I say something negative about a Globe columnist?
disclaimer
I do enjoy the creative ways you find to link to that disclaimer.
Me too!
It always makes me chuckle :-)
i was just busting your
i was just busting your balls. by the way, that was a good point about mcgrory. is there a more compelling column than one about a 5yr old girl in a wheelchair who forgives her attacker? the mother is also an amazing person.
Gotta work on that skin of mine
I think it's a little thin.
I know that there are a lot
I know that there are a lot of McGrory-bashers, and I'm not one of them. But I couldn't help but feel that this was one of the most useless columns I've ever seen published. After all the praising of the service for a 4 hour trip in the morning, he dismissed it as useless at the end of the column after his return took 5 hours instead. And he whined that CNN gets repetitive. What's the surprise here? How fickle can you get?
There was also no mention of the COST of Limoliner, particularly in comparison to the other modes of transport (train and plane--regular bus appears to be beneath him). Y'know, Brian, to some of us, that makes a difference in an analysis.
Can I get paid for writing a stream-of-conciousness ramble that's part ad and part whine?
Interesting
I just did a little research, and Limoliner tickets seem to be $79 each way. That's actually better than Acela, though slower. And certainly a lot pricier than a Greyhound or Chinatown bus, IIRC. Info like that could have actually made McGrory's piece vaguely useful!
