Yankee fans? Police report four people from Stafford, Connecticut and one from Tennessee tried to break into Mission Church on Tremont Street shortly after midnight:
... The witness then stated that he heard female voices coming from the bottom of the stairs of the Church. When he responded to that location, he observed two females crouching by a grated window of the Church with a drill in their hand. When the witness asked the females if they were early for Church Services, they dropped the drill and fled in an unknown direction. ...
You can send birthday greetings to one of the people charged with the attempted break-in.

In case you wanted to know how stupid these kids are I've found some interesting links.
Oh and it seems that they left CT for boston 3 or 4 days ago. None of these kids look like they are in college.

She also has an Amazon profile if you want to buy her something nice.

Wow.
Is their a paying position on the internet for someone to sit home and collect "evidence" for alleged crimes against the catholic church? For your sake, I truly hope so. I can only assume someone is paying you to stalk these kids, read their myspace profiles, and post mondane commentary. Who's the witty one labelling them yankee fans, that was clever, eh?
Sorry if this is improper blog format, I'm not quite hip enough for this I guess.
My concern here is that you aren't getting enough sunlight, I think tomorrow you should try going outside, maybe get a hobby!

Click on my user name and you'll find enough about me to do your own Google search.
I didn't post about these kids because of any alleged attack against the Catholic Church but because a) they're charged with doing something incredibly stupid and b) I admit it, I thought it was cool and funny that the priest asked them if they were early for services.

I must say, the amount of publicity this case is getting is quite absurd.
I recently moved out of Boston and I know for a fact that there are much more important things to talk about besides a few kids trespassing.
It's obvious if you look at the different media sources and compare them, that this is a pretty biased case. Also, if you compare the broadcasts, or the newspaper articles, the witness contradicts himself. As a christian, and a decent human being, I feel obligated to refrain from judging these kids. I, as well as the rest of you, were not there. No one really knows what happend other than the witness, and the suspects. Remember, suspects? Innocent until proven guilty, right??
Some things don't add up for me.
I am familiar with this church, and also know that there are abandoned buildngs on the property. Why did the police assume the kids were breaking into the church, when the gates lead to other buildings as well. Why break into a building that they could easily walk into during the day time? It seems to me there would be more adventure/thrill in breaking into somewhere they weren't allowed in.
I think we all need to keep in mind that America loves drama. Especially when it involves the church.
And to "georgia", did you really put that much effort into researching these kids? Come on, put that energy towards something positive!!
Positive

It didn't take much energy at all to find these kids, but thanks for your concern about how I spend my time.
By just searching with their names on myspace I was able to find one, and the rest were in each others top 8. 10 to 15 minutes tops.
I don't think there was added drama because they were attempting to enter a church it just made them look all the more stupid. A group of kids, mostly from CT come to Boston for the weekend and end up breaking into a church.
It's pure comedy. I hope they enjoyed their vacation.

I just happend to scroll up on this page and read it. Here's my opinion about what i've read... What happend is no ones elses business but the people involved. Boston has more issues than attempted robbery. Theses kids didn't steal anything or harm anyone. So why is this story so blown out of proportion?? So why are u going to look these kids up online? I mean these kids have had enough drama with the arrests and the bogus storys about what happend. The news artical and news broadcast make no sence one says one thing and the other says something different. Where is the police statement from the kids what were they really going to do? Break into a church... very strange, to take what?? I hope that you are getting paid good money to keep tabs on these kids. Good waste of time if you ask me. I mean what more do u want from these kids? They are innocent until proven guilty... Do they really need this type of harassment from people? what is wrong you? Kids from a small town got in to city trouble and now need people looking everything up about them. Leave them alone.
OK, so what WERE they trying to do?

Since you seem to be so knowledgable about this case, maybe you can tell us what fine young people from some exit off of I-84 in northern Connecticut were doing with a drill at a basilica in Roxbury late one night? It's not like it's on the Freedom Trail.

1. A battery operated screwdriver, not a "drill". A phillips head screw driver bit cannot drill through a lock, only remove screws, hence the name...
2. This place is known to be a local hang out for a lot of college kids in Boston, these kids weren't blazing any trails
3. Only 3 were from Ct, get your facts straight, the papers are wrong
4. I am a 30 something adult who does in fact know these kids and doesn't appreciate the fact that a bunch of online losers have nothing better to do than advertise someone else's business
5. Also factual, calling someone and idiot, loser, and calling attention to police business IS IN FACT a form of harassment, even if it's not emailed directly to them- this is also public.
6. Nowhere on any of those links (yes i did see them before they were set to private) mentioned the church, stop assuming, you are not a P.I, get a grip
Might want to bone up on Mass. public records laws

I don't know about down there in Connecticut, but up here in Massachusetts, police logs are public records (as a reporter, I used to get some of my best stories just by sitting in the local district court - most court proceedings not involving minors are also open to the public; yeah, I know, damn Constitution!). My source (I being the original poster here) was BPDNews.com, which is run by the Boston Police Department. Have you also complained to the the Boston Police Department and the Boston Herald (which also reported on the incident)? If so, what sort of reaction did you get from them? Just curious.
And again, my original question to you: If they weren't breaking in, what were they doing?
harassment

The only reason I keep responding is because I think it is hillarious that someone who doesn't know these kids is SOOOOO offended that their pathetic attempt to enter property which they had no right to be anywhere near (church, abandoned building its still not their property and they had no permission to be there.
And futher, stop trying to claim these "idiots" are being subjected to harassment.
harassment- to disturb persistently; torment, as with troubles or cares; bother continually; pester; persecute.
I did not email them telling them or confront them in any way.
Myspace is a social network where people post what they want with the knowledge that others will have access to it.
If they did not want people to see it they would have set their accounts to private(which they have now done).
What is posted on Myspace is public, the records of their arrest is also public because they are over 18.
Do I feel bad for them, no. I feel bad for victims of crimes, not the criminals.
And of course they are innocent until proven otherwise, however 3 were caught on the property and the other 2 were stupid enough to try and bail them out leading to their own arrest. making it clear that they will probably plead out.
That is funny.

Georgia,
you are a moron. I'm sorry, it needed to be said.
May I quote you?
"A group of kids, mostly from CT come to Boston for the weekend and end up breaking into a church."
They didn't break into a church, or anything for that matter. It has not been confirmed yet whether or not they were ATTEMPTING to break into the church, you are completely ignorant.
have a great day
Moron

They were beyond the gates of the property, they may have been attempting to enter a particular building (there are differing reports on what exactly that building was) but they were tresspassing.
If they had done nothing wrong they would not have been arrested.
But if in your eyes Bri failing to state that their break-in was only attempted and thankfully not successful makes me "completely ignorant" I guess I'll have to live with that.
And for those of you who hate me, follow your own suggestions and don't get so involved in online nonsense. Although I have my doubts as to if there are really 3 of you on this board or if it is just one "sympathizer" who is very defensive about these kids.
Any way I wonder if proclaiming that I am a moron is harassment?
And yes, this is still funny and the heated responses are only making it more enjoyable.
Thanks Georgia!

You make it seem so effortless! I love how these people are here trying to defend their friends and call you and Adam the losers.
So, Bri, if you get caught "ATTEMPTING" to commit a crime, you are above reproach in that situation. Darn those cops... if they gave them a few more minutes with their drill (oops sorry, electric screwdriver... wait, who cares the exact description, they had a freaking powertool with which they were going to remove the protective bars), sorry, if you gave them a few more minutes and had they entered the actual church building, THEN and only then is it okay to judge them.
Love this post! I wouldn't have realized it was still alive if I didn't see 'Moron' in under recent comments.

Just a comment from a twentysomething who found this posting rather interesting...
First, I am amazed that somebody actually had to point out that information published by the police regarding arrests, like that which is posted in public MySpace.com accounts, is part of the public record. This is a forum discussing an incident that actually took place here in Boston, not some sort of fabricated attempt to attack innocent people.
The fact of the matter is that these four young people are not innocent. They were clearly in a place that they were not supposed to be and in possession of tools that could only lead them to criminal activity of some sort. Whether the buildings to which these people hoped to gain access were abandoned or not is immaterial. These were not their homes. They had neither the keys nor the permission needed to enter any of the buildings in question. They put themselves in a position where their character could be called into question.
People seem to have no checks and balances - no accountability - in today's society. These four made a mistake, and now they are paying for it. Nobody is condemning them for life, but it would be crazy not to point out the foolishness of their actions.
It is sad that churches must be locked at night. In days gone by, they were the sanctuaries, providing a safe space for people in need. Now we must protect them from vandals and burglars.
Hopefully, these four have learned a lesson, but let's not defend the indefensible, okay? It's a waste of time!
