That plastic must be pretty tough. At least they won't rust.
UPDATE: Apparently, the fact that plastic doesn't rust is just why they're in place.

Plastic cable tie on the Blue Line above ground north of Airport
Look out the train windows toward the west the next time you ride the Blue Line north of Airport. You'll see plastic tie wraps used consistently on the cable runs suspended from the posts all the way from Airport to Wonderland.
With commodity prices and modern materials technologies what they are, do you think that metal fixtures would be stronger and cheaper?

But do we also trust plastics most likely mixed / made in china to be what they say they are?
Over the years, UV will degrade their performace.
Then they'll start snapping. This truly is a band-aid solution to a knife wound.
What
about duct tape? I don't think zip ties are time tested.
