A new Boston City Councilor is a new opportunity to have a more open City Council that would interact more with communities' constituencies. Even with what improvements have been made there's more to be done to make an open city government that really follows the principles of FOI Freedom of Information public records and Sunshine open public meetings. The new Boston City Councilor's staff could be people with more advanced knowledge of new technologies and softwares that open the public records of the City Council to all more readily. Regrettably the current hundred or so City Council staff are deficient in their knowledge of new technologies and software that would allow for greater interaction between the City Council and people concerned, interested, affected by Council actions. For example, allowing for greater public comment to be submitted regarding any and all of the proceedings of the public meeting of the City Council. The old guard at the City Council generally withholds. New technically skilled, talented types would improve Boston City Council greatly.
The Bostonian in me would love to see him leave the city council. The Massachusetts resident in me would not like him to represent the Commonwealth. So, so torn!
That's the question we have to ask. If we follow Tip O'Neil's maxim, that all politics is local, might we extrapolate that more damage is local? Then again, shouldn't we strive to replace Mr. Frank with somebody who is at least somewhat as competent? You're right, this is quite the conundrum!
It is such arrogance to think that someone who is not a resident of the district should run in a district because of their last name or it is an open race.
This applies to Kennedy, Sutter, Bielat or Khazie.
Sutter was talking about running int he 9th Congressional District but now the 4th. Talk about being a political opportunist.
Kennedy has NO connection to the 4th whatsoever!!!
If Kennedy or Sutter or whoever is an outsider and wants to run in the 4th, they will quickly find that the district does not want political opportunist outsiders.

do we want a congressman who
do we want a congressman who wants to pass a law making knife sellers - yes, stores that sell knives - licensed?
And what does that have to do
with Mike Ross moving to Newton??

Where can he do the least damage?

Political Opportunists Need Not Apply
This is absurd.
