A real disgrace @ ISD is Cheryl something, an extremely nasty ISD inspector who somehow won the City's Shattuck Award not too long ago.
I know of 3 incidents (one involving an elderly couple) where she treated the public like dirt. Her behavior is more of a crime than what Coppinger has done!
So, Cheryl Odom wins the Shattuck Award for public service for doing her job well, though perhaps a bit too rambunctiously, and she is worse than a woman who has robbed 2 banks? Where does a murder fit on your line, employee of the year?
I'm guessing someone is a contractor or is somehow otherwise involved in the real estate construction business.
Most or many Shattuck Award winners deserve their awards. I have 3 data points that say Cheryl Odom won the Shattuck Award NOT for public service for doing her job well, but rather for some other reason. Maybe she has the goods on someone, or is best pals with the "right person." Either way, she is nasty and never should have been on anyone's list for such an award.
"Rambunctiously" is not the right word for how she operates.
My larger point is that an apparently poor woman working for ISD who has robbed 2 banks is one thing, but the ongoing follies @ ISD is quite another. Odom's story is one of many ISD stories that prompts much shaking of the proverbial head.
But still, Odom has never been criminally charged with anything. I cannot accept any weighing that puts someone charged with a crime (with the possible exception of the crime being a form of civil disobedience) being considered a better role model than a worker with a poor attitude.
I don't know how the Shattuck is decided, but my guess is that there is a combination of good solid work and base politics, based on the people I know who have won it.
