the Boston food scene: http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2014/10/tom-menino-the-mayor...

I was a Menino fan, loved how he enabled the food-truck movement, for instance, but I didn't realize how much The Mayor and our food-nerd community had in common. Well done, Corby Kummer.

Aww, geez... I wish that he had gotten to be Boston's neighborhood cheerleader for a lot longer than he did.

You just know that he's already started a Main Streets program in Heaven!

It breaks my effing heart that we won't get to see this and his other post-mayoral projects come to fruition.

He's passed and he's still inspiring me to try out a restaurant in a neighborhood of Boston I rarely if ever venture into.

Boston's neighborhoods just really lost our biggest cheerleader.

TMM looked like he had just about enough of his egghead/food nerd dining companion. He could have speared him with that fork and it would have made good theater. "This is how they serve it in Greece." No shit, bookworm. It's made by Greeks.

Putting this up on the Real Downtown Crossing FB page.

Everyone should see this. It really captures what a down to earth man he was. Not to mention, the importance of promoting small business. He did that ALL the time. He realized that the urban landscape is made up of people. The small businesses and families that make up the neighborhoods of Boston are just as important as the fat cat developers and politicians.

He knew this and that is part of what made him so successful.

My favorite Greek place is about to get overrun!

Been going here for years for some of the best Greek food in the city.

This, the Dry Dock Cafe in South Boston and the late Cristelle's in West Roxbury, although I would find it hard to believe he never stepped foot in the Pleasant Cafe in Roslindale.
