Police stop car near Egleston Square for broken tail light; arrest occupants for loaded guns

Boston Police report the arrest of three 19-year-olds on Columbus Avenue early this morning after finding them driving around with loaded guns - one with laser sights.
According to police, officers pulled a car over around 1 a.m. outside 2044 Columbus Ave. Looking inside, they saw neither of the men in the front seat were wearing seat belts:
The officer requested identification from both passengers, and as he did, his partner observed a semi-automatic firearm with laser sights on the rear passenger floor near the back passenger’s foot. This firearm was later determined to be a loaded Sig Sauer Mosquito semi-automatic pistol with laser sights and obliterated serial number. The officers ordered the rear passenger out of the vehicle, and after some initial resistance, he complied. For their safety, officers also ordered the two remaining occupants out of the vehicle. A pat frisk of the front passenger revealed a black semi-automatic firearm (later determined to be a loaded Advantage Arms pistol) in his waistband. A search of the vehicle also revealed a loaded black Browning Arms Buck Mark semi-automatic pistol with obliterated serial number between the driver’s seat and the center console where the operator had been sitting and several bags of what appeared to be marijuana from the front passenger side door console.
Driver Ronald Watts of Quincy, front-seat passenger Jordan Creech of Mattapan and rear-seat occupant Jabree Daugherty were all charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm. Watts and Creech were also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Remember, kids: Don't let a broken tail light ruin your plans for frolic and mayhem. Always check your vehicle for red flags before leaving the alley where you illegally acquired your unregistered firearms.

Question
Who do these kids get these expensive guns from? They haven't been stolen locally from people who have legal license to own. These guns are being imported into these neighborhoods by the same criminal gangs that are bringing in the drugs.

Typically they are stolen out of state or even out of the country and trafficked long distances with drugs. Firearms which would cost a licensed person hundreds if not over a grand get traded on the street for very little money. The value in the illicit arms trade isn't monetary it's in providing protection for the lucrative drug trade.
If the drug trade went away or ceased being a violent gang run affair the illicit arms trade would disappear away with it.
Let's see if any of these clowns serve the mandatory minimum for violating Bartley Fox.

Please, guns are exported FROM our country to others, like Mexico, not INTO our country. Our country leads the world in exporting arms. Where else in the developed world are such a wide range of militaristic guns so easy to legally buy. These were probably from New Hampshire, the same state that supplied to gunpowder to the marathon bombers.

Yeah, a while back there was a new story about many guns in Boston coming from the Georgia straw purchase pipeline. That's why there was such an uptick in the "Taurus Judge" pistol being recovered.
You ever seen a hood gun
You ever seen a hood gun before? We're not talking a high quality firearm here. We're talking a low-tier cheap brand, commonly Hi-Point, duct tape holding the magazine in, with scratches, dirt, and/or rust all over it. I once saw this piece of shit pistol that BPD caught on some guy. The thing was falling apart. Also it has six rounds in it, and four of them were dummy-rounds. You can get a cheap crappy pistol on the streets for around $100.

Guess I should have clicked the link before posting. Yeah those guns look pretty nice. Probably stolen. This guy in my neighborhood had four guns stolen from his house during a burglary. Usually when you see nice guns on the street, they're stolen. Scratched serial and everything. Although most hood guns look disgusting, and I wonder how they even fire.

Bail, trial and sentencing
I live not far from where this went down. Monday they will be released after posting bail in value less than the amount they paid for the guns. If there is actually a trial and they are found guilty, the court will sentence at the low end of the range for the sentencing scale. I seriously doubt any will actually spend time in prison for this unless one of them had a serious prior and has other minor priors.
Gun laws only matter if we try and sentence the anti-social miscreants who openly defy the laws. There is no governmental solution to the social problem these kids were likely raised with. Pick up a Charles Murray book. The problem of poor (as in poor quality, not simply lacking financial resources) or absent parents cannot be solved by "the village." Good parents are necessary. But I don't care if they "didn't have a chance." They could have killed my kid in their crossfire. We have serious gun laws. They were found in possession of said illegal guns. Send them away for the max. Then, after they are released hope they move to another jurisdiction. Otherwise, they will end up shooting another cop in the face like happened blocks from where this arrest took place at the hands of another career scumbag. The system perpetuates itself.

you know nothing of the parents Ronald is my little brother and he was raised just fine played football, baseball & basketball in high school graduated with good grades, was en route to the milirary and has never been in trouble with the law before.
Until you know the circumstances of the situation best to keep your "parenting" advice to yourself same with everyone else that seems to have an opion of why this situation happened.
None of you know the reason this happened or the circumstances that caused it. So instead of being keyboard warriors think that possibly it might be something you dont know. Jordan is also a good kid the only one that is the problem here is Jabree.
So everyone that seems to have an opinion of this and thinks they know the solution put yourself in our family's shoes if it was your child im sure you wouldnt be so pompus.

Funny, Lovey and I were just driving in Wellesley and our driver remarked that he had forgotten to fix the broken tail light I had asked him to fix last month. We never got pulled over though, must have been lucky.

what is your point exactly? Given that they DID have a car full of loaded guns and drugs and were probably en route to kill some black people (since I highly doubt they were on their way to Wellesley), whatever fuzzy point you're trying to make about the racist unfairness of police stops is, in this case, f'ing absurd. Again--lucky cop or who knows--maybe cop with good instincts. Lucky whoever-it-was that those guys were looking for with their loaded guns--cop probably saved a few lives.

I wonder if the broken tail
I wonder if the broken tail light was really a violation. In Massachusetts the law requires one working taillight in the middle and on each side. So, if your car was built with multiple taillights on each side (which is true for around half of the cars on the road) then one of them can be burned out and your car is still street legal and is not cause for a traffic stop.
Then again, the US Supreme Court recently ruled 8-1 that it is "reasonable" for full-time traffic cops to not know how many functioning taillights are required by law.
