State readies Worcester Line for return to 1950 service levels
By adamg on Wed, 10/14/2015 - 11:35am
State officials recently gathered to celebrate the spring, 2016 start of "bullet train" service that will get some Worcester commuters into Back Bay in an hour - which is still a couple minutes slower than the Beeliner service introduced by the Boston and Albany on May 1, 1950 (using Buddliners, no less).

Back to the 50s...
Worcester is a good start, but the state needs to get service to/from Springfield going, stat.
If only MBTA trains could go 88 mph
Then it would be easy to go back to 1950's levels of service.
(Of course the fares would be pretty high, given all the plutonium needed for the flux capacitors, at least until the Mr. Fusion units become functional...)
Worcester airport
I don't know, does the Worcester line come even close to the Worcester airport? Like Gatwick near London, if you could hop on a train that expressed you from Boston to Worcester airport, suddenly that would seem like a travel option...if there were any decent amount of flights going out of Worcester.
It doesn't, and it would
It doesn't, and it would probably cost 100s of millions to make a spur stop to it given its elevation.
