By adamg on Tue, 12/01/2015 - 7:25am
The Herald reports on the first of four days of deer hunting in the Blue Hills Reservation - yesterday, today and next Monday and Tuesday.
As they entered the woods, hunters were asked to look for the remains of a man last seen last New Year's Eve and presumed murdered.

Heh.
Even if that weren't true, I would have said that just for the lulz.
"Oh, and he might come looking for you, too. Have a nice night out there. Mind what's behind your targets."
True story:
When I was young, we used to go parking up there. One night,, after I got home, I found a BLOODY HOOK HANGING FROM THE DOOR HANDLE!!

Way overblown
It's not even a slow news month. But this story is getting way more play than it deserves.
Agreed
I felt like the Globe story today had a bit of a "save the animals" slant to it. I guess the protesters are doing a good job to drum up this much coverage.
What story?
What story? Deer hunt or body?

Just like any other hunting
Just like any other hunting situation, the hunters get to feed their own families.
saw a huge buck up those parts recently...
of course I won't say where...hope he's found a good hiding place.
I saw several hunters and a
I saw several hunters and a DCR staffer with information sheets when I passed by the parking area at Paul's Bridge on my way out of town early yesterday morning. Sadly, 26 is just a drop in the bucket in that area.
Is this going to accomplish much?
If the yield is similar on the other three hunting days, we've killed 104 deer. Which doesn't sound to me like it makes much of a dent in the problem.
It's part of a long term plan
They are planning on doing this for 5 seasons.
One thing it accomplishes
Is allowing some legal hunting by responsible gun owners without having to drive to the boondocks.
Not that I would ever do such a thing. seeing Bambi traumatized me for life.
Bambi
I have no desire to go hunting -- but eventually the Bambi trauma wore off. No sympathy at all for the anti-thinning by hunting brigade.
